Thanksgiving is a time for friends and family gather for a meal and drink, enjoying quality time with one another. It is also a time for us to reflect on the year and be thankful for all that we have.
While the Thanksgiving holiday is a time to relax and reflect, it is also one of the busiest travel periods of the year. People will be traveling by plane, train, and car to get to their destination with an estimated 51 million Americans traveling throughout the week leading up to Thanksgiving Day.
The increase in traffic will cause many people throughout Pennsylvania to become anxious with fear that they will not arrive to their destinations on time. Regardless of what type of transportation you will be utilizing, keep in mind that it is a heavily traveled time of year. Remain calm, be patient and expect delays to occur.
Keep these safety tips in mind over the holiday weekend:
- Leave Early – make sure you allow yourself enough time to get to your destination. This will prevent you from rushing and could prevent an accident from occuring.
- Drive Defensively – there will be thousands of drivers on the road this holiday season! It is important to always be alert and to drive defensively. Maintain a safe following distance to allow yourself enough to come to a complete stop.
- Do Not Drive Distracted – never use your cell phone while driving. Keep your phone stowed away at all times when driving to prevent you from using it.
- Never Drink & Drive – plan ahead this holiday season! If you plan on drinking designate a sober driver, utilize the multiple car services available or use public transportation to get around.
Enjoy spending this time with all those you are thankful for. From all of us at Freeburn Law, we would like to wish you a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
