Highlighting Key Incidents

1. I-83 Tragedy Near Harrisburg

Late last night, a severe accident disrupted the usual flow on northbound I-83 across the South Bridge. As per PennDOT’s update, all lanes on the northbound side were shut down for several hours, spanning from Exit 41B for Lemoyne to Exit 43 for Capitol/2nd Street. While the southbound lanes experienced a brief closure, they were reinstated by 9 p.m.

Sadly, local news sources such as CBS21 and ABC27 confirm that the coroner was summoned to the scene, indicating at least one fatality. As of 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, the northbound lanes were reopened, marking the end of the disruption. Currently, the specifics surrounding the crash, including the exact number of casualties, injuries, involved vehicles, and the root cause, remain undisclosed.

2. Susquehanna River Mishap

Pennsylvania State Police have recently confirmed the unfortunate demise of an individual after a crash resulted in a vehicle submerging in the Susquehanna River. The vehicle, a Pontiac sedan, was reportedly heading south on Sheshequin Road in Sheshequin Township. In a baffling turn of events, the car veered off the road’s east side and plummeted into the river, ultimately settling upside down.

Upon immediate arrival, the Bradford County Coroner pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. While the road has since been reopened, the precise details surrounding this incident remain largely undisclosed.

3. Tragic Street Racing Incident at Aramingo and Castor Avenues:

In August, a tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Aramingo and Castor Avenues in Philadelphia when 19-year-old Joseph Vannauker, while street racing, struck a pedestrian known as “Gabe.” Around midnight, Philadelphia police spotted two Dodge Chargers racing. The blue Charger hit Gabe so forcefully he was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m.

Following a hit-and-run, Vannauker evaded the police but was later apprehended in Pennsauken, New Jersey, thanks to evidence left at the scene. He faces charges including homicide by vehicle and reckless driving.

Locals recall Gabe’s kindness in assisting others to cross busy streets. The event has prompted calls, including from Ed Rouda, for safety improvements like speed bumps at the intersection to prevent further tragedies.

At 70yrs. of age, I have never been in a car accident, nor have I ever had a moving violation! So, needless to say, that the trauma of being involved in an accident that I did not cause, where my car, (which was only 6mos. old) was totaled!) and I received 2 broken bones in my left ankle that warrented surgery…was nothing short of devastating! It’s been 9mos. and I’m still healing! But while I was in the ER, the only injury attorney’s name and number that came to my mind was Freeburn and the 7’s! Well, in came Ryan McDaniels, and ever since that initial encounter at my home, I was thoroughly convinced that the Lord had orchestrated it! This young man’s demeanor, personality, and integrity was awesome! He kept me well informed and I trusted him emphatically! Not only him, but everyone in their office, showed me the utmost respect and courtesies! I would, without any reservations, refer anyone who asked me, to this firm! They made for me a wonderful experience from the most devastatingly, traumatic situation I’ve ever had! Definitely 2 thumbs up!
