Route 15 Accident Caused by Falling Mattress

Sunday night, a car swerved to avoid hitting mattress falling from a trailer being pulled by a pick-up truck. The driver of the car then hit a concrete median.

Four occupants of the car, including two children, were flown to Hershey Medical Center. The accident shut down the northbound lanes of Route 15 between Dillsburg and Grantham.

According to a police statement, “vehicle operators are responsible for the load in their vehicles, whether it is a trailer, truck or car”. Serious injuries and deaths have been caused by objects falling loose from loaded trucks, trailers and cars. Don’t trust those hauling items, maintain a safe distance behind the vehicles ahead of you can help avoid falling objects.
